Welcome Back to 2026 – Our 20th Anniversary Year
Welcome back to a brand new school year. As we step into 2026 together, we do so with a deep sense of gratitude, pride, and anticipation. This is a special year for our NorthLight community as we celebrate our 20th Anniversary – a milestone that honours our journey, affirms who we are, and invites us to imagine what more we can become.
Over the past two decades, NorthLight has grown through perseverance, belief, and collective effort. As we mark this milestone, we are reminded that our story is still unfolding – shaped each day by the choices we make, the relationships we nurture, and the lives we touch.
Our anniversary theme, “NorthLight at 20: Stronger, Bolder, Brighter,” captures the journey we have taken together and the spirit we carry forward.
Stronger reflects the resilience we have built over two
decades – the strong systems, shared values, and collective commitment
that continue to anchor us, even in challenging times.
Bolder speaks to our courage to innovate, to try new approaches,
and to keep learning and improving without resting on past achievements.
Brighter points to our transformation and hope for the future – leading with conviction, caring for our shared future, and broadening horizons with our partners and community so that every learner can discover purpose, dignity, and possibility for life.
Our 20th Anniversary: More Than a Celebration
Our 20th Anniversary is guided by three key objectives:
-
Celebration – recognising the achievements, milestones, and contributions of all who have been part of NorthLight’s journey, past and present.
-
Cultivation – nurturing a culture of continuous learning, growth, and excellence for both students and staff.
-
Connection – strengthening relationships across students, staff, alumni, parents, partners, and the wider community, fostering a deep sense of belonging.
Paying It Forward
A key highlight of this anniversary year is the opportunity for our students to pay it forward. Through collective fundraising efforts, we will come together to support future generations of NorthLight students and contribute to the wider community through the President’s Challenge. This reflects an important value we hold as a school – that success is not only measured by personal achievement, but by our willingness to uplift others and give back to the community that supports us.
Caring for Our Shared Future: Sustainability in Action
In 2026, we will place greater emphasis on sustainability, not as a one-off initiative, but as a way of thinking and living. This aligns naturally with our theme of being Brighter – caring for our shared future.
Sustainability begins with small, everyday choices: changing habits, reducing waste, conserving energy, and being mindful of how our actions impact the environment. When each of us takes small steps consistently, we create meaningful collective impact. As a school community, we learn that stewardship is not about perfection, but about intention and responsibility.
Looking Ahead: The Future of Learning
As we mark our past, we also look firmly towards the future. The Future of Learning will continue to guide how we transform teaching and learning at NorthLight – strengthening students’ 21st Century Competencies, leveraging educational technology thoughtfully, and reimagining learning spaces and partnerships to create richer, more authentic learning experiences.
This ensures that our students are not only prepared for examinations or certifications, but equipped for life – as confident persons, self-directed learners, active contributors, and concerned citizens.
As we step into this milestone year together, I do so with deep appreciation for every student, staff member, and partner who makes NorthLight what it is. Thank you for the trust you place in one another and in this school. Let us continue to walk this journey side by side – supporting one another, believing in our students, and doing our part to build a future we can all be proud of.
Here’s to a year where we grow Stronger, act Bolder, and shine Brighter – together.
