Welcome to NorthLight School NREACH
19-05-2012
| Every student who graduates from NorthLight will automatically be a member of the NorthLight Alumni. The first batch of students who participated in the enhanced vocational programme joined the school in 2007 and graduate in 2009. The students who were from the 2 year programme graduated in 2008. This year, different groups of Year 4 students came to my room practically every week and asked if they could continue to study in NLS even when they have graduated. They have a memorable 3 years and found the time passes by very quickly. I understand that many may feel anxious as they move on to higher education or the workplace. The teachers in NLS have expressed their desire to stay connected with our alumni for at least a year.We realized that the transition from school to work or from school to ITE may not be easy and the uncertainties could bring about anxiety. This part of the portal is specially set up for the alumni. The format of this portal mirrors the portal that you have been using and you will have no problem using it. You are free to share with us through the support feature. When you write to us, we will direct your concern to the relevant staff and will provide the support to our best ability. |
There is also another feature where we will keep you updated of the latest courses. We will be working with e2i or a few other vendors who provide WSQ upgrading courses and you will be the first to know. Do sign up for the courses which will usually be conducted in the school in the evenings or Saturdays. It is important that every one of you continue to upgrade yourself. Remember life- long learning is part of our mission. There is also a section on the alumni chat where you can keep connected with your friends.
There will also be occasions where we will need you to help us to run certain school events, this is one way for you to continue to stay connected with us, do volunteer your service when you are available. Many of you have benefited from the education in NLS and it would be wonderful to return to the school community. It will also be a good opportunity for you to be a good role model to your juniors.
It is critical that you inform us when you change your address or contact number so that we can continue to keep in touch with you. I would like to wish you all the best in whatever you do.
Remember to constantly apply the school values. The words on the banner in the garden will always be in your mind: "I am proud of NLS & I want NLS to be proud of me."
